African countries in times past have always depended on the Western world (Europe and America) for most of their partnerships. they believed that the western world could best help them grow. On the contrary, there have been decades of exploitation from the western world; not forgetting the era of slave trade and colonisation. At the opening of the 21st century, Africans have finally come to the realisation that they can best develop by creating alliances and partnerships with other developing countries, leading to South – South corporations being formed.
New relationships are being formed between China, Brazil and other African countries; whereby these countries are ending some of their business relations with the western world to embrace these new avenues
A focal talking point therefore is; how has Africa benefited from the Western World and how will the new South – South relations benefit the continent?
